I'm moving out of my typical Parisian style flat and want to rent both rooms to fellow English speakers visiting Paris short term. It's a total nightmare finding affordable rooms in town, and as a foreigner you always end up at the bottom of the waiting lists because no-one trusts you! I'd know, I'm a foreigner too, so you guys are my no.1 :)
There are 2 rooms: the smaller one is still pretty big (for Paris, it's tiny for USA, but anyway) about 4.5 x 3.5 meters at 700 Euros a month. It's rented to Kristina, 28, a super-cool Russian graphic designer, up until August 15th and then it's available to you. The bigger one is about 4 x 5 meters and is renting for 750 Euros and is available to you from 15th May.
Charges (normally 145 Euros each) are INCLUDED in the rent, for: high-speed internet, our crazy Parisian building charges, council tax, gas and all electricity. The rent may seem high because I included the charges in it. In actual fact, charges are almost never listed in your rent and you get slapped with them afterwards, so take care elsewhere and ask how much you'll pay TOTAL. The rooms are (sparsely) furnished, with beds with clean mattresses with mattress covers and dry-cleaned bedding and pillow, plus use of good-quality French sheets and less fantastic quality towels, but that's what I've got!
Shared bathroom and equipped kitchen, including a washing machine and reverse-osmosis water purifying installation.
There is no shared sitting room but the rooms are pretty big. Electricity here is 100% green energy. Kitchen and bathroom ceiling lights are full-spectrum light therapy bulbs. Check out the pictures for a plan of the flat.
The area is at the northernmost edge of the 10th arrondissement and is known as Little India. It's a very little India indeed though, as in about 15 paces you're out of it and in the Canal Saint Martin district, with lots of hipster bars and cafés. Gare du Nord is a 5-min walk away, so public transport is really good here: RER lines B, D and E, metro lines 2, 4, 5 and 7 plus a whole bunch of buses. Montmartre is 15 mins walk away. It's a 45 minute walk to the Seine (or 2 stops on the RER B). Ideal location for biking about. This is however NOT fashionable left-bank Paris, with its fancy churches and super-expensive patisseries. This is a gritty area where real people live, so you need to not expect some kind of left-bank Parisian fanciness ;) Don't worry, it's safe here.
Because there are so many scams on Craigslist, I would like a scan of your passport and one month's rent to secure the room. I'll give you a receipt and refund the deposit when you leave, so long as everything is left as found. To give YOU some security from scams (really, be careful!) I'll send you a copy of my passport and we can have a Skype/Facetime session during which I can take you round the flat. You can record this, including my face, if that makes you feel better. I'm not a fake identity and will happily share my FB and LinkedIn profiles for extra security, just ask :)
Any questions, get in touch. Looking forward to welcoming you in Paris! <3
